Prayer Requests Winter Week 1

1/12/2012

• Remember that Jesus is better at my academics than I am; to unite my heart to fear/love Him; for every single person that steps into Kinsey on Thursday nights to be saved and have a relationship with Christ
• Can I give up people, lay down friendships, satisfied in God alone, act and walk in path of the righteous when my heart desires otherwise? Speak, O Lord, into my soul. May it never wander from your way. May it hold fast to you and you alone!
• Pray that I would really give up my all for God with the right intentions and mindset
• Pray for our family as we ask God for courage to follow His plan in 2012 even if it means changing our home, church, jobs, or our whole life
• To read the Word every day without viewing it as a chore, and to love others with a Christ-like heart
• To stay within God’s Word and trust in His sovereignty
• That this year would be filled with growth in Him and all for God’s glory not mine! That my life would be reflective of God’s presence in my life everyday not just a few time a week!
• To truly open and change my heart for God; to do things not of my own strength but to glorify God
• For my younger brother! He just started coming to church and went to retreat. Pray that He may truly encounter God in His life!
• For outreach this quarter!! I hope a lot of people come out and God really works through us.

CCM in the New Year! (Winter Theme)

Hi!

Hope you are excited for CCM and the ways God will work in this ministry this year. I wanted to give a little insight into what we will be focusing on this upcoming quarter. While we focused on the attributes of God last quarter, this quarter we will focus on the life of Jesus. You may ask, “Well, aren’t God the Father, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit all God? So shouldn’t what we learned about God, be what we learned about Jesus?” And that is true, but I think we get more insight when we observe the actions of Jesus’ life. Just as every belief should be demonstrated by action, what we believe about God can be seen through the actions of Jesus.

So I hope we can join and learn about the things Jesus said and the the things He did, and then better understand who He is. And also as we know Jesus, we can walk as He did, which is something we’ll be practicing doing as well this quarter.

SO I hope to see you this quarter. Thursdays 7pm @ Kinsey 1200B!

• I pray that as a ministry, CCM will not become complacent, using excuses to not hear God’s voice. I pray that we would become radical in our love towards one another and challenge onlookers through this christian love for one another. We need to fight complacency. We need to stop going through the motions. We need to start getting uncomfortable and reach out to others, including ourselves
• I pray for my friend. She was and is Buddhist all her life so she is not willing to come to CCM with me. Bus she seems to have so many unanswered questions about her life and I really wish she can meet Christ.
• Love my family- be thankful for what my parents have done for me. Balance between free time and studying. Be closer to God. Minister to my roommate.
• That I will learn to thank God every day. To acknowledge His mercy is new every morning. That we would be able to find a pastor for my church soon and we will be united.
• To make a conscious and intentional effort to have quality time with God. Like seriously. Alone time with God outside of CCM and church!
• To connect with more people and make friends who I can truly be comfortable with.
• To have genuine joy. :D Have a nice day.

• pray for my class that we may serve this year with willing & eager hearts

• view of success, not in terms of the world. success in Christ despite circumstances of failure

Life of Jesus- The “I AM”

“Case of Mistaken Identity”

• Just as Pastor Steve misjudged the basketball player, we can fall into mistaking Jesus for something other than He is

John 8:56-59

• “…before Abraham was, I am”
• Exodus 3:14- “I AM who I AM”
• By saying this, Jesus claims to be God; therefore, the Israelites lift stones to stone Him
• Jesus is the great I AM and exists in the past, present, and future

John 8:31

• Jews thought they were free just by being offspring of Abraham
• But, only those who abide in Jesus and fully surrender to Him will be free
• “…everyone who commits sin is a slave to sin” 
• It is not a matter of merely believing, but of surrender and total trust
• It requires action as a fruit of commitment to God

If Jesus truly is the “I AM,” the living God, our Lord and Saviour, do we live as if that is the case? If we truly believed that, would we not be eager to follow after Him? Let’s not mistake Jesus for anyone other than He is, and seek to follow Him in obedience.

A big thank you to Evan for an easily accessible summary of the previous quarter’s topics. Again, I highly encourage you to take a look back at these teachings and even meditate on them, that it would sink in and take root in our hearts. 

My challenge is to take a look at some of these topics, and even other attributes that we did not cover last quarter, and view them in light of the gospel. What might these attributes reveal about the gospel? Also, how might the gospel reveal more about these attributes of God?

Prayer Requests Fall Week 4

• To be constantly reminded of what God has done for us instead of worrying about trivial things. To be reminded that my ultimate goal in life should be to glorify God and His Kingdom. Prayer for non-believers in areas that experience persecution. To provide them with courage and strength.
• For love. I feel like recently I have been forgetting what it means to love Him and be loved by Him.
• I need to remember that God will get me to where He needs me to be, as long as I make myself available. And this includes not making any “backup” plans for myself, just in case God’s will doesn’t get through. Because it will.
• For God’s blessing on CCM and for His guidance to bring each and every one of its members to Him.
• That I would be able to confidently declare that God is m Lord and more than enough for me.
• Prayer for my parents/extended family. My grandma just recently passed away and I just want to request prayer for healing, peace, and for my parents to come to know God

• Thanks be to God for his love, grace, and mercy; Thanks be to God for great friends and family; Protection and guidance for friends and family; Wisdom for Sage to move his life away from sin; Wisdom for me
• I pray that I’ll find confidence in what I want to major in and pursue in life and let my outlook be not solely based off money and monetary benefit. Help my parents understand what it is I want and not judge; just for understanding. And that I don’t take little things so seriously and personally.
• Please pray that I would be able to trust in God’s providence. It’s a little discouraging to be at such a huge campus. I don’t have any good friends here.
